Step 1
Locate some wild-growing ivy. It is best if the ivy is already climbing a wall and is one of the larger-leaved varieties. Take a number of cuttings ensuring that the base of the cutting is clean-cut diagonally (see fig1)

STEP 3
Pot the plants in compost (taking care not to damage the roots) and water thoroughly.

 

STEP 4
Ensure that the compost is kept continuously moist for two/three weeks. The plants should be left to grow in a shady place but should not be starved of sunlight.

Step 2
Stand the cuttings in water for approximately two weeks to enable them to develop roots (see fig2). Tie each cutting loosely to a bamboo stick for support. The stick will also encourage the growth of tiny roots all over the plant, allowing it to climb walls at a later stage (see fig3).
